ISLAMABAD: Pakistan produced and assembled 1.66 million mobile phones locally in August 2026. However, a significant decline has been witnessed recently.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the sharp monthly fall came after mobile phone production had remained high in July. During the first eight months of 2026, Pakistan produced and assembled 18.66 million mobile phones locally. The figure was 19.77 million during the same period last year, showing a decline of around 6%.
Mobile phone imports also fell in August. Pakistan imported 80,000 mobile phones during the month, down 69% from August last year and 27% from July. Locally assembled phones met about 95% of the country’s mobile phone demand in August. During the first eight months of the year, locally produced and assembled phones met around 87% of total demand.
VGO Tel produced the highest number of mobile phones locally during the first eight months of 2026, with 2.45 million units. Infinix was second with 1.96 million units, followed by ITEL with 1.56 million, Tecno with 1.14 million and Samsung with 1.01 million units.
Vivo and Nokia each recorded 970,000 locally assembled phones during the period. Club Mobile assembled 720,000 units, while X Mobile and QMobile recorded 700,000 and 630,000 units, respectively.
