Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of failing to provide the required cooperation in efforts to combat terrorism, saying the provincial government must fulfil its constitutional role in tackling the threat.

Speaking on the issue, Rana Sanaullah said terrorism was a national issue and both the federal and provincial governments should play their respective roles within their constitutional jurisdictions to eliminate the menace.

He urged the KP government to extend effective cooperation to the federal authorities in counterterrorism efforts, stressing that the province had a constitutional responsibility to contribute to efforts aimed at combating terrorism.

Rana Sanaullah further said the federal government had all constitutional options available and would take appropriate measures, in accordance with the Constitution and law, depending on the situation.

Commenting on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s proposed long march, he said the government would not allow the march to enter Islamabad under any circumstances.

He added that any attempt to create disorder or violate the law would be dealt with through legal means, stressing that the writ of the state would not be compromised.
