CHITRAL: To create income opportunities for women, the Hujra Village Support Organisation (HVSO) provided vocational and digital skills training to 50 women in Upper Chitral.

The women completed professional training in sewing, tailoring and fashion designing under the organisation’s Digital Skills Training Initiative. The training was part of the Empowered Women project, which seeks to help women develop professional, digital and business skills so they can start small businesses and support their families financially, according to a spokesperson for the organisation.

A ceremony was held at the Government Technical and Vocational Centre for Women in Boni to distribute certificates among the participants. District Finance Officer Farhana Hayat attended the ceremony as chief guest.

Alongside vocational training, the participants were taught digital marketing, e-commerce for entrepreneurs, technology awareness and other practical skills to help them promote their products and services.

The programme was conducted in two batches, with all 50 enrolled women successfully completing the training. Each participant received a certificate and a mobile phone to help her access digital tools and promote her skills, products and services.
On this occasion, the HVSO appreciated the financial support provided by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and PTCL, as well as the technical support and partnership of the Institute of Rural Management during the training programme.
