PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced to start a public protest journey from Gandi Chowk, Lakki Marwat on October 4.

He said the struggle will continue till the supremacy of constitution and law, restoration of independent judiciary and achievement of legal rights.

Sohail Afridi said that all demands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are according to the constitution and law and people have the constitutional right to peaceful protest. He said peace can be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 100 days but there is a need to change the current policy.

The Chief Minister said terrorism is not just a narrative war for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan as every citizen is affected by it. He said military operations against our own people and displacing them is not a lasting solution to terrorism. He added that drone attacks and so-called collateral damage increase terrorism and he stands firm on his policy like a rock.

Sohail Afridi questioned that if the federal and Balochistan governments are on the same page, why is there still no peace in Balochistan. He said the current government policy against terrorism is not successful and peace cannot be established without changing the policy.

He also raised questions over arrest of ministers and workers in KP, police issues and hurdles in provision of weapons.

He said they will not let May 9 happen again nor will they let anyone do it. He claimed that whoever stole the CCTV footage is the one who orchestrated May 9.
