PESHAWAR: After the collapse of all sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the incompetence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s government has reached its peak.
After failing to provide basic health facilities to the public, the government has now decided to outsource the management and operations of 37 government health centers under the name of ‘Public-Private Partnership’.
This new decision clearly shows that the PTI government has completely failed to manage the province and resolve public issues.
The latest proof of this continuous incompetence has come in the health sector, where the only support providing basic facilities to the public – 37 government health centers – are being handed over to private companies.
Political and public circles are viewing this decision as an open failure of the government and the beginning of another financial scandal.
Despite an annual budget of billions of rupees, why has the provincial government failed to run government hospitals and health centers? According to sources and experts, this ‘Public-Private Partnership’ model seems not just public service but another link in the ‘make money’ policy.
Questions are being raised whether this decision is really for the improvement of health facilities or a new way has been carved out to benefit favorite contractors and firms.
According to details issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation, applications have been invited from eligible and experienced firms for this outsourcing. The districts whose health centers are being handed over to the private sector including tertiary care hospitals and 37 other health facilities.
