SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A woman was injured in an explosion of an unknown device in Marwaka area of Birmal Tehsil, South Waziristan Lower.
According to local sources, Salim Zara wife of Shiwa Khan, aged about 45, belonging to Toji Khel tribe, was injured when she apparently stepped on an unknown device while going after cattle in Marwaka.
As a result of the blast, the woman sustained injuries on her left leg. She was immediately shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Wana in injured condition where first aid was provided.
According to hospital sources, in view of her condition, she has been referred to Dera Ismail Khan for further treatment.
Further details regarding the incident and nature of the blast have not yet come to light.
Police sources confirmed the incident and said investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
It may be recalled that landmine incidents are often reported from different areas of South Waziristan Lower and Upper, in which mostly children and women are affected.
