CHARSADDA: A Lady Health Worker (LHV) performing polio duty came under fire in the limits of Mandani Police Station Charsadda on Thursday morning. However, taking timely action police arrested the alleged shooter on the spot.
According to police, the suspect was identified as Shehzad, son of Naik Muhammad, a resident of Jangai, Malakand. Police said he opened fire at the LHV over a personal dispute reportedly linked to the rejection of a marriage proposal.
The firing caused panic, and the LHV fell on the road while trying to protect herself, suffering minor scratches. No member of the polio team or police personnel deployed for security was injured in the incident.
Police said they responded immediately and arrested the suspect from the spot. A case has also been registered against him, while further investigation is underway. Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive behind the attack are being investigated.
