PESHAWAR: The closure of the M-1 motorway has raised concerns over possible disruptions to the supply of food and other essential commodities to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The M-1 is a key route for transporting food and other essential goods to the province from other parts of the country. Its closure could affect the movement of supplies and create pressure on markets if the disruption continues.
Traders said prolonged interruptions in the supply of pulses, rice and other essential commodities could lead to shortages and higher prices in the coming days.
They added that transportation costs had already increased following recent increases in petroleum prices. Any further disruption caused by the motorway closure could put additional pressure on the prices of food items.
Citizens and members of the business community urged the authorities to restore the supply route at the earliest to prevent potential shortages and further increases in food prices.
