PESHAWAR: Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team has won the bronze medal at the Asian Games.
In the third-place match, Pakistan Women defeated Bangladesh Women by 31 runs. Batting first, the national team scored 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana remained the top scorer with 45 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh Women’s Team could only score 114 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan won the match by 31 runs. From Pakistan side, Umm-e-Hani took 3 wickets.
It is worth mentioning that earlier on Sunday, Pakistan Women were defeated by Sri Lanka Women by 8 wickets in the semi-final of the Asian Games.
This medal came in the Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket event. Pakistan Women’s team had reached the semi-final but lost to Sri Lanka Women by 8 wickets on Sunday. Sri Lanka chased the target easily and knocked Pakistan out of the gold medal race.
After that defeat, Pakistan played the bronze medal match today against Bangladesh. Bangladesh Women are considered a strong T20 side and have beaten Pakistan before, so this match was important.
Pakistan Women had struggled in recent tournaments, so this bronze medal is seen as a big achievement. Captain Fatima Sana led the team well, and young bowler Umm-e-Hani’s 3 wickets were crucial. With this win, Pakistan has now won medals in women’s cricket in three consecutive Asian Games.
