MASTUNG: As many as four terrorists were killed and two others injured in an intelligence-based operation at Killi Siddique Abad and surrounding areas of Mastung.
According to security sources, operation was launched after intelligence reports identified a group of six to eight terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan in the area. A total of seven combat teams took part in the operation, while five blocking positions were established before the sanitisation process began at 9am on September 19.
At around 1pm, a group of five to six terrorists was spotted near Killi Shahnawaz, following which an exchange of fire took place. The terrorists were pursued for about three kilometres before being surrounded and engaged with small arms.
In the operation, at least four terrorists, including Dr Gurk and Sajid, were killed while two others sustained injuries, according to the sources. Security forces recovered four bodies, four sub-machine guns, an RPG, 10 RPG fuses and rounds, two hand grenades, an STOS device with 200 metres of IED wire, binoculars, four mobile phones, a Canon camera, two BLA flags and four bandoliers. No loss or damage was reported on the part of security forces.
Earlier in the day, in a similar operation, at least 12 terrorists were killed in a counter-terrorism operation in the Paroom Aphan area of Balochistan on Saturday. According to security sources, the security forces carried out timely and effective action against terrorists affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). In the operation, M-4 rifles, machine guns, hand grenades and communication equipment were recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists.
