KOHAT: Security forces have completed the operation against terrorists in Kohat and all miscreants involved in the attack were neutralized by police and security forces.
According to security forces, all the terrorists who had entered the Police Lines have been killed. According to hospital sources, so far 23 people have been martyred while 130 people have been injured in the incident.
All terrorists who entered the government building have been killed. Additional IG CTD Jawad Qamar was also injured in the operation.
Sources said that the terrorists attacked the mosque inside the Police Lines during prayer time, which caused heavy casualties. After the blast, terrorists entered the building, but security forces surrounded the area and launched a clearance operation.
Security forces conducted a successful operation and killed all the attackers. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to clear any remaining threat.
Additional IG CTD Jawad Qamar, who was leading the operation from the front, was also injured and shifted to hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
President Zardari, PM Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, KP CM Sohail Afridi and Governor Faisal Kundi strongly condemned the attack and called for elimination of Fitna-al-Khawarij.
This is considered one of the deadliest attacks on police in KP in 2026, coming just a day after 6 soldiers were martyred in a roadside blast in neighboring Hangu.
