KURRAM: Khawarij fled towards Afghanistan after security forces opened fire when they were allegedly spotted attempting to cross into Pakistan near the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram district, according to sources.

The sources said security forces responded to the alleged infiltration attempt, forcing the militants to retreat towards the Afghan side. They further claimed that Afghan border posts were providing support to the infiltrators, but the attempt was thwarted by the timely response of Pakistani security forces.

According to the sources, Pakistani forces also targeted Afghan posts allegedly involved in assisting the militants.
The situation in the border area remains under the control of security forces, the sources said, adding that troops remain on high alert to prevent further infiltration attempts in future.
