PESHAWAR: Following the Islamabad High Court’s directives, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief secretary has issued strict instructions regarding the possible Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march and rally towards Islamabad.
Under an office memorandum issued by the chief secretary, government officials have been barred from participating in, facilitating or providing any form of assistance to a march, rally or procession heading towards the federal capital.
The memorandum directs all concerned officials to ensure full compliance with the court’s orders.
The chief secretary further instructed that any government official who is asked or pressured to participate in the march should immediately inform the chief secretary or the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The instructions also prohibit the use of government vehicles, machinery, equipment, public funds and other official resources for any political march or rally.
According to the memorandum, permission will not be granted for any march or rally that could potentially disrupt the free movement of citizens in Islamabad, commercial and business activities, educational institutions or access to healthcare facilities.
The chief secretary warned that government officials found violating the court’s directives would face strict departmental action.
The latest instructions come amid preparations for a possible PTI march towards Islamabad and follow the Islamabad High Court’s directions concerning activities that could affect the fundamental rights of residents of the federal capital.
