CARDIFF: England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has written a new chapter in T20 cricket history by becoming the first player in the world to complete 15,000 runs in the format.
Buttler achieved this milestone during the second T20 International match against Sri Lanka in Cardiff.
Reaching the milestone by taking a single off Eshan Malinga, Buttler surpassed former West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard to also become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.
Buttler reached this monumental total across 528 matches, maintaining an average of 35.46 and a strike rate of 147.46, which includes 9 centuries and 107 half-centuries.

Earlier, young Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma delivered a phenomenal batting display against Afghanistan, setting a new record for the fastest century by an Indian in T20 Internationals.

During the third T20I match against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Right from the start of the innings, Abhishek Sharma launched a relentless attack on the Afghan bowlers.
Playing breathtaking strokes all around the ground, Abhishek reached his century in just 30 balls, treating Indian fans to a masterclass in modern batting. The Afghan bowling attack looked completely helpless against his aggressive onslaught.
The Indian opener played a sensational knock of 108 runs off a mere 34 balls, studded with 11 massive sixes and 9 boundaries. His explosive innings played a pivotal role in propelling India toward a massive total.
Abhishek Sharma has established a new record for the fastest T20I century.
Previously, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and New Zealand’s Finn Allen held records for blistering hundreds, but Abhishek surpassed them by reaching the milestone in just 30 deliveries.
