Two sisters died when a tragic lightning strike occurred in the Manwar Sairiyan area of the famous tourist destination Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Assistant Commissioner Balakot Hasrat Khan, lightning struck two houses in Manwar Sairiyan, resulting in complete destruction of both houses. In the tragic incident, two sisters lost their lives while three people were injured.

The two sisters killed in the lightning strike have been identified as 10-year-old Sidra Bibi and 17-year-old Salma Bibi, while Mehnaz, Halima and Manzoor were injured.

Assistant Commissioner Hasrat Khan said that relief goods have been dispatched to the affected area immediately. Rescue teams and district administration reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Residents said heavy thunder and lightning were reported in the area during the rain. The lightning directly hit the mud houses, causing them to collapse. The district administration has announced compensation for the affected families and urged people in hilly areas to take precautionary measures during thunderstorms.
