BANNU: The protest by students of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, Bannu Campus, continued for the second day.

According to students, the registration of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence departments has been pending since 2024, while as per relevant regulations, facilities including laboratories, classrooms and permanent faculty are also not fully available.

Students said that due to non-fulfillment of required rules and regulations, registration has not yet been granted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC).

The protesting students said their third year has already started and they will complete their degrees after one year, but the departments have not been registered so far. According to students, in case of non-registration, they will not be eligible to apply for jobs inside and outside the country and the status of their degrees may also be affected.

Students demanded that the concerned authorities resolve the registration issue immediately and give them a clear assurance regarding the future of their degrees.

The university administration has taken the stance that they are taking necessary steps to resolve the issue, and departmental meetings are also underway to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
