ISLAMABAD: Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has formally assumed charge as the new Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

On his arrival at the Central Police Office, senior police officers and personnel accorded him a warm welcome. A smartly turned-out police contingent also presented him with a guard of honor.

A dignified ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to mark the change of command, after which Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry officially took over as IG Islamabad.

After assuming office, the IG Islamabad held introductory meetings with police officers and received a detailed briefing on professional matters. Later, Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry visited the Martyrs’ Monument, laid a floral wreath, and paid tribute to the martyrs of Islamabad Police.

He also offered prayers for the elevation of their ranks. Speaking on the occasion, IG Islamabad Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry said that maintaining law and order in Islamabad and ensuring the safety of citizens will be his top priority.

He said timely and effective police services will be ensured for citizens, while effective measures will be taken for crime prevention and for the protection of life and property. Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry added that there will be no compromise on merit, transparency, and the rule of law.

He said the professional capabilities of the police will be further improved and the professional standards of the force will also be raised. The IG Islamabad directed officers and personnel to demonstrate courtesy, responsibility, and a professional attitude with citizens.

He said public trust in the police will be further strengthened, while the policing system will be improved through the effective use of modern technology.

Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry further said that traffic management and public facilities in Islamabad will be improved further. He added that the system of accountability and discipline within the police will also be made more effective.
