SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The district administration of Upper South Waziristan has imposed a 13-hour curfew in Sarwakai Tehsil Sub-Division starting from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM today, citing security reasons.
According to an official notification, all markets in Sarwakai Tehsil will remain closed during the curfew period. A complete ban has also been placed on civilian movement and traffic in the area.
Sarwakai, Mola Khan Sarai, Raghzai, Barwand, Spinkai, Chagmalai – Saplatoi, Shahoor, Mola Khan Sarai and Madi Jan will be affected. The administration clarified that Law Enforcement Agencies, ambulances, the fire brigade, and other emergency services will be exempt from the curfew restrictions.
However, residents have been advised that travel on the affected routes will only be permitted in emergency situations and with prior approval from police or security forces.
Citizens have also been directed to carry their CNIC and all required vehicle documents while traveling. The administration further instructed drivers to stop their vehicles 50 meters before approaching any security checkpoint.
The district administration warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the curfew orders. The reason behind the curfew has not been officially disclosed. Security operations and heightened restrictions are common in parts of South Waziristan due to ongoing security concerns.
