Another sharp increase in flour prices puts public under pressure

The price of flour has increased again in Quetta, adding to the financial difficulties faced by consumers.

The price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has risen by Rs70, from Rs2,850 to Rs2,920, according to market sources.

Sources said flour prices have continued to rise in the city, with another increase recorded over the past few days. The latest hike means consumers now have to spend more on the staple food item.

Market sources attributed the continued rise in flour prices to an increase in wheat prices and difficulties in ensuring adequate wheat supplies.

Flour mill owners said they were facing challenges in procuring wheat, while the price of available wheat had also increased. These factors have pushed up flour production costs, placing an additional burden on consumers.
