DUBAI: Pakistan Women’s cricket team secured a place in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup after defeating Hong Kong by 72 runs in a crucial match played in Dubai.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 143 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Shawal Zulfiqar top-scored for Pakistan with 47 runs, while Ayesha Zafar contributed 26 and Fatima Sana scored 24.

For Hong Kong, Julian Correa was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets, while Iqra Sahar and Kary Chan claimed two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 144, Hong Kong struggled against Pakistan’s bowling attack and were bowled out for just 71 runs. Kary Chan was their leading scorer with 30 runs, while none of the other batters managed to make a significant contribution.

Pakistan spinner Nashra Sandhu delivered a sensational spell, taking six wickets for just seven runs. Her outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

With her six-wicket haul, Sandhu also became the Pakistan bowler with the most wickets in a single women’s T20 international match.

The match also marked a significant milestone for Pakistan opener Muneeba Ali, who completed 100 T20 International appearances for her country.

Pakistan will now face Sri Lanka in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
