LONDON: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and owners of all eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are considering a proposal to hold next year’s edition of the tournament in January instead of April or May.
According to a report by cricket website ESPNcricinfo, the proposal was discussed during a meeting of the PSL Governing Council in London, where various matters concerning the next edition were reviewed.
The report said the proposed shift was prompted by concerns over limited advertising revenue during April and May.
Franchise owners also questioned whether they would receive their full share of broadcast revenue regardless of when the tournament is held. Concerns were reportedly raised over advertising income amid uncertainty about whether television rights would generate the expected revenue.
Under the existing agreement, all franchises receive 95 per cent of broadcast revenue from the central revenue pool.
The proposed change remains under consideration, with further consultations expected before a final decision is taken.
