LAKKI MARWAT: Two armed men were killed in an exchange of fire during a joint operation by police and the local peace committee in the jurisdiction of Thana Saddar, officials said.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out early in the morning in Abdul Khel and Shah Hassan Khel areas. Police, along with members of the peace committee, conducted the raid based on intelligence reports.During the operation, armed suspects opened fire on the security personnel. Police and peace committee members retaliated, resulting in the killing of two individuals.
The deceased have been identified as Mubashir and one unidentified person. Their bodies were taken into custody and shifted for legal formalities.Police officials said a search operation is ongoing in the area to apprehend any other suspects and to clear the region of militant presence.
No casualties were reported among police or peace committee members during the exchange of fire. Authorities said such joint operations with local peace committees will continue to maintain law and order in Lakki Marwat district.
