PESHAWAR: Patients and their attendants at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) are facing difficulties amid the hot weather after two of the three air-conditioning systems in the hospital’s New Block developed technical faults.

According to reports, only one AC system is currently operational, leaving patients in the affected areas struggling with inadequate cooling during the prevailing heatwave conditions. The hospital administration said both faulty systems require specialised spare parts, which are being imported from abroad. Officials said repair work would begin as soon as the required parts arrive.

LRH spokesperson Muhammad Asim confirmed that technical faults had developed in the two systems and said the hospital was taking steps to restore them. Meanwhile, two X-ray machines in the hospital’s emergency department are also out of service, adding to concerns about diagnostic facilities for patients seeking urgent treatment.

The administration said equipment required to repair the X-ray machines was also being procured from abroad and that the machines would be restored after the necessary equipment arrives.

The simultaneous breakdown of cooling and diagnostic equipment has raised concerns among patients and attendants, particularly as LRH remains one of the province’s major public-sector hospitals serving a large number of patients every day.
