ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shafee Jan and Advisor on Finance Muzammil Aslam expressed deep grief over the deaths of newborns in the fire at PIMS Hospital and said that government cannot even run just two hospitals in Islamabad, what bigger incompetence and failure despite huge federal budget?

KP Minister for Information Shafi Jan extended heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the parents and families of the deceased children, saying that the KP government shares equally in the grief of the affected families in this hour of sorrow.

Shafee Jan said the loss of innocent children’s lives is extremely tragic and heart breaking. He expressed serious concern over the absence of basic facilities for firefighting, emergency evacuation, and safety measures at PIMS Hospital.

The provincial information minister said it is essential to have effective arrangements for firefighting, emergency evacuation of patients, and other safety measures in hospitals. He asked, “If a government cannot even run just two hospitals in Islamabad, what bigger incompetence and failure could there be?”

Shafee Jan alleged that incompetence, failure, and insensitivity have become the hallmark of the federal government. According to him, the tragic incident at PIMS has exposed the federal government’s criminal negligence.

He demanded that the federal government be held accountable for this serious negligence and criminal lapse.On the other hand, KP Advisor on Finance Muzammil Aslam also reacted to the PIMS fire incident and said the federal health minister’s statement has raised several important questions.

Muzammil Aslam said that according to the federal health minister, government hospitals do not have the effective fire safety arrangements that are present in top private hospitals. He questioned why, despite PIMS Hospital having an annual budget of around Rs. 10 billion, its current condition is a question mark.

The finance advisor said that if any private hospital were given even one-tenth of PIMS’s budget, it could become a state-of-the-art institution.

He asked how long the wastage of public resources and alleged plundering will continue. Aimal Wali Khan expresses grief, demands transparent investigation Muzammil Aslam also raised questions about the presence of Rescue 1122 during the PIMS incident, asking where Rescue 1122 was at the time of the incident.

He further asked why police were stopping the affected parents from talking to the media. He also questioned the debate over administrative units and federal territories, asking if this was a battle over power and resources.

Muzammil Aslam said people’s rights should not be used as an excuse, and instead safe and quality facilities should be made the real priority. He said that on the blessed day of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, this tragic incident raises one question repeatedly in the mind: what answer will we give to Allah Almighty for our incompetence? The KP Advisor on Finance further said that what can be expected from people who came into power on the basis of fake Form 47. He said those who do not care about public sentiments, how will they understand the problems of the people?
