TEHRAN: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Iran, where both met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandhar Momeni.

Matters of mutual interest between Pakistan and Iran, bilateral cooperation and the overall situation in the region were discussed in the meeting. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Mohsin Naqvi also discussed issues related to promoting peace and stability in the region with the Iranian Interior Minister.

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are visiting Iran in connection with Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability. During Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s visit, the focus will be on advancing efforts for a peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive solution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai also confirmed Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s visit to Iran and said that important meetings will be held during the visit. According to Iranian state media IRNA, Esmail Baqai said that the visit aims to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. According to him, this visit is a continuation of Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and security in the region.

According to the spokesperson, important issues, including matters of mutual interest and promotion of bilateral cooperation, will be discussed during Field Marshal Seyyed Asim Munir’s visit. It should be noted that Pakistan maintained close contact with both sides during the tension between the US and Iran and continued diplomatic efforts for peace in the region.

Negotiations between the US and Iran also stalled due to differences on various issues, while later both sides also launched attacks against each other. In the current situation, Pakistan is continuing its efforts to reduce tensions in the region and peacefully resolve the conflict.
