PESHAWAR: Bayun, one of Swat’s scenic villages, is set to get a new tourism attraction with camping pods planned to provide visitors with a different way to enjoy the area’s natural beauty.

A 15-year lease agreement has been signed with local landowners for the project, which will be developed with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The agreement was signed by representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority during a visit to the office of Swat Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ahmed Khan.

The team included Director Culture and Tourism Muhammad Ali Syed and Eco-Tourism and Camping Village Project Coordinator Umar Abbasi. The project is being developed on the directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Special Assistant for Tourism and Culture Malik Adeel Iqbal.

Once installed, the camping pods will offer tourists a comfortable stay closer to nature. The project is also expected to bring new business and employment opportunities for people living in the area. Officials say the initiative will focus on eco-tourism and sustainable use of natural resources, while helping local communities benefit from the growing tourism sector in Swat.
