ISLAMABAD: The Registrar Office of the Supreme Court has rejected a review petition filed against the court’s order to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to hospital, citing objections.
Speaking to media after the development, PTI lawyer Ziaullah Khan said the review petition was dismissed with objections by the Registrar’s office. He added that contempt of court proceedings are expected to begin shortly.
Ziaullah Khan further stated that the contempt proceedings will start with the Chief Commissioner and will extend up to the Prime Minister.
The Supreme Court had earlier issued a conditional order for Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment. The rejection of the review petition means the original order remains in effect.
PTI leadership has maintained that decisions regarding meetings and further legal steps will be taken once Imran Khan is moved to the hospital, as per the court’s directive.
Contempt proceedings are expected to be initiated within the next few hours.
