PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has decided to implement major welfare initiatives for women, transgender persons, and children with special needs.
According to sources, the government has approved the establishment of 5 new Dar-ul-Aman, or shelter homes, for the protection of women across the province.
For the transgender community, the government has launched a feasibility study for the establishment of welfare and protection centers. As part of the plan, better health facilities will be provided to transgender persons and the issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards will be ensured.
In the education sector, the provincial government has also decided on the modern rehabilitation and upgradation of 52 special education institutions. The move aims to improve the quality of education and training for children with special needs across KP.
Officials said work on feasibility studies for the new protection centers has already begun, and implementation on all three initiatives will be expedited.
