PESHAWAR: A dispute over administrative authority between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Local Government Secretary and the Director General of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has intensified over the promotion of PDA employees.
According to sources, the DG PDA has scheduled a selection and promotion meeting for August 13 to consider promotions for PDA employees, despite objections raised by the Local Government Secretary.
The secretary had reportedly directed the DG to cancel the meeting through an official letter. However, sources said the DG ignored the directive and retained the scheduled meeting.
The development has further widened the differences between the two officials over administrative powers and control of PDA affairs.
Meanwhile, the Local Government Secretary has separately convened a meeting for August 19 to consider promotions of employees of PDA and other institutions working under the Local Government Department.
The scheduling of two separate meetings on the same promotion issue has created further confusion and raised questions over the authority of the two offices to make decisions regarding PDA employees.
The provincial minister has yet to publicly comment on the dispute, as the disagreement between the department’s secretary and the PDA director general continues to escalate.
