PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has ordered action against employees living in government residences who are allegedly receiving house rent and conveyance allowances while also using electricity supplied through hospital meters.
According to a letter issued by the department’s Section Officer (Budget), several employees have been identified as receiving house rent and conveyance allowances despite being allotted official residential accommodation.
All district health officers and medical superintendents of government hospitals have been directed to submit complete details of employees residing in government quarters within two weeks.
The information must include the employee’s name, designation, place of posting, date and details of accommodation allotment, as well as deductions from their salaries, including house rent and conveyance allowance.
The department directed drawing and disbursing officers to immediately ensure recovery of the applicable licence fee, house rent and other inadmissible allowances where deductions have not already been made.
It further ordered recovery of all outstanding dues retrospectively from the date of allotment of the government accommodation.
The Health Department has also taken serious notice of unauthorised electricity connections from hospital meters being used at government residences.
It directed authorities to immediately disconnect such connections and instructed residents to obtain separate electricity connections from the relevant distribution company at their own expense.
District health officers and medical superintendents have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders. Copies of the letter have also been sent to all district accounts officers for necessary action.
