PESHAWAR: More than 3,000 candidates appeared in a test for 141 Veterinary Assistant posts, but only 102 managed to secure the required 50 per cent marks, leaving the number of successful candidates short of the available vacancies.
The Livestock Department has reportedly started considering a proposal to lower the minimum passing marks to facilitate completion of the recruitment process, sources said.
The test for recruitment against 141 Veterinary Assistant positions was conducted through the National Testing Service (NTS), under an agreement between the Livestock Department and the testing agency. The agreement clearly stipulated that candidates were required to obtain at least 50 per cent marks to qualify.
According to sources, more than 3,000 candidates took the test, but only 102 succeeded in securing 50 per cent or higher marks.
With the number of successful candidates falling short of the 141 available posts, the Livestock Department is facing difficulties in completing the recruitment process.
Sources said the department is now considering reducing the existing 50 per cent qualifying threshold to increase the number of eligible candidates and fill the vacant positions.
