ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity prices across Pakistan under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.
According to the notification, electricity tariffs have been increased by Rs 0.75 per unit, with the adjustment set to be applied in consumers’ electricity bills for August. The increase will also apply to customers of K-Electric.
The adjustment was made on account of electricity costs for June. Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs 1.20 per unit under the June monthly adjustment.
Before this, electricity consumers across the country had faced an increase of Rs 0.34 per unit under the May monthly adjustment.
The latest tariff revision is expected to raise electricity bills for consumers nationwide following the implementation of the new adjustment in August billing cycles.
