PESHAWAR: At least six people have lost their lives and six others have been injured in rain-related incidents and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since July 29, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The fatalities occurred after heavy rains and flash floods caused the collapse of roofs and walls of houses in different parts of the province.
The deceased included two women and four children, while the injured also comprised two women and four children. The PDMA said a total of 65 houses were damaged due to the severe weather, with 41 partially damaged and 24 completely destroyed.
The affected districts include Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Khyber, Lower Chitral, Lower Dir, Mansehra, Mardan, Peshawar, Shangla, Swabi, Upper Dir and Upper Kohistan. According to the PDMA, it is coordinating with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant authorities, while relief and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas.
The disaster management authority has directed district administrations to expedite relief efforts and ensure immediate assistance to affected families.
The PDMA has also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow weather alerts and advisories issued by government authorities.
