PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expanded its inquiry into alleged corruption, misuse of authority and irregularities in Auqaf Department properties, seeking computerized land records from all districts of the province.
In a letter sent to the Senior Member Board of Revenue, NAB KP stated that an inquiry is underway against officials, employees and other relevant individuals associated with the Auqaf Department under the National Accountability Ordinance 1999. The bureau said it requires detailed information and official documents as part of the investigation.
Referring to the ordinance for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf Properties 1979, it became clear from the letter that the properties of Auqaf consist of all the properties which are dedicated for religious, welfare or charitable purpose irrespective of any documentary evidence of its endowment character.
The accountability body asked the Board of Revenue to ask the concerned officials associated with the project of land computerization to conduct searches in computerized data of the land through certain keywords such as Waqf, Mal-e-Waqf, Khanqah, graveyard, shrine, dargah, mosque, Imambargah and others.
NAB further warned that any misrepresentation of facts, concealment of information or submission of misleading details could result in legal action.
The bureau has sought records from all districts of the province as part of efforts to identify possible irregularities in the management, ownership and use of Auqaf properties.
