SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Mufti Jan Mir, who was seriously injured in a hand grenade blast in Wana Bazaar, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, according to initial reports.
According to police sources, a hand grenade is suspected to have been used in the Wana Bazaar blast and its main target was Mufti Jan Mir who was a vocal person of the area.
Police have reached the site of the explosion and launched an investigation into the incident. Local residents expressed deep grief and sorrow over the attack. Speaking to media, people of the area demanded the permanent deployment of police in Wana Bazaar to ensure security.
Citizens also voiced serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, saying that such an incident occurring in broad daylight is a matter of grave concern.
