ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has welcomed Kuwait recent ratification of the bilateral Defence Cooperation Agreement, describing it as a significant milestone in the longstanding defence relationship between the two brotherly Islamic countries.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Foreign Office said the agreement, signed on June 11, 2023, reflects the shared commitment of both nations to expand their defence partnership, which dates back to the early 1980s, and to further strengthen bilateral security cooperation.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the agreement establishes a comprehensive institutional framework for defence collaboration. It envisages enhanced cooperation in military training and education, joint military exercises, the exchange of professional expertise, and other mutually agreed areas of defence cooperation.
The Foreign Office said the development would further reinforce institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait while contributing to regional peace, security, and long-term stability.
Pakistan and Kuwait also reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the provisions of the agreement and to continue working closely to advance their partnership based on mutual trust and shared interests.
