Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the people decide the election, not the state, and the PPP should admit its defeat in the Azad Kashmir elections of Mirpur Division.
While talking to the media, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz thanked the PML-N workers and the Kashmiri people for their success in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections and said that the people have once again expressed full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and the performance of the PML-N.
She said that she congratulates the workers on their success in the elections and the PML-N’s victory on 9 out of 13 seats in Mirpur division is clear proof of the people’s trust. The people have voted for development, service and performance, and the party will fulfil all the promises made to the Kashmiri people.
Maryam Nawaz criticized the PPP and said that it should openly admit its electoral defeat. The language used by the PPP during the election campaign was deplorable, while the PPP had no effective program, narrative or performance to present to the people.
Addressing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, she said that the elections are decided by the people, not the state; therefore, he should focus on his performance and narrative. The people do not vote on sympathy or complaints but on performance, agenda and development projects.
Maryam Nawaz said that if the PPP accepts the victory in Gilgit-Baltistan, then there will be no room for objections to the results of Azad Kashmir. The PPP has been in power in Azad Kashmir for the past year; therefore, the responsibility for the situation there also lies with it.
He also criticized the performance of the Sindh government and said that despite being in power for many years, the PPP could not show the people significant development projects. He suggested that attention should be paid to improving law and order, cleanliness, roads, and the governance system in Sindh.
Maryum Nawaz said that the PML-N will further advance the journey of development and progress in Azad Kashmir, and vigorous steps will be taken to provide modern facilities like Punjab to the people. He also appealed to the people of Muzaffarabad and Poonch divisions to decide in favor of development and prosperity in the coming stages.
