LANDI KOTAL: Owners of medical stores at Hospital Chowk in Landi Kotal staged a protest against what they described as excessive taxes included in their electricity bills. The demonstrators demanded the immediate withdrawal of the additional taxes, warning that they would intensify their protest campaign if their concerns were ignored.
Holding placards and chanting slogans, the pharmacy owners said the increasing cost of electricity and added taxes had made it extremely difficult for them to continue operating their businesses. They argued that medical stores provide an essential public service and should not be burdened with additional financial pressure.
Protest leaders urged the federal government and the relevant authorities to abolish the extra taxes imposed through electricity bills and provide relief to traders. They warned that if their demands were not accepted promptly, they would expand their protest movement and organize larger demonstrations in coordination with trader organizations.
The protest reflects broader concerns among traders over rising electricity tariffs and taxes, with business groups in various parts of Pakistan calling for relief measures to reduce the financial burden on small businesses.
