Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, today formally inaugurated the modern Command and Control Room of the Special Security Unit (SSU).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional IG Police Headquarters Abbas Ahsan, Elite Force Muhammad Ali and Commandant Special Security Unit Syed Ashfaq Anwar, Deputy Commandant Abdul Rashid Khan and other senior police officers.
On the occasion of the inauguration, the Inspector General of Police was given a detailed briefing regarding the modern monitoring, communication and security system installed in the Command and Control Room. He was apprised of the operational capabilities of the Special Security Unit, real-time monitoring based on modern technology, prompt response in emergencies, integrated coordination with personnel deployed across the province, and various aspects of an effective Command and Control System.
During the briefing, it was informed that this modern command and control room will play a key role in ensuring effective monitoring of the overall operational activities of the Special Security Unit, optimal utilization of resources, timely decision-making, and prompt and coordinated response in emergencies.
Furthermore, this centre also plays a central role in effective monitoring of the security of foreign experts working on various development projects of the province, continuous monitoring of the security police personnel assigned to protect them and effective management of field operations. The briefing also highlighted that foreign experts are serving on important national and provincial development projects that are of exceptional importance for the country’s economy, infrastructure and overall development, while the Special Security Unit is performing the security responsibilities of these experts and related projects in a highly professional manner.
The Inspector General of Police inspected various departments of the Command and Control Room in detail and appreciated the modern facilities, digital monitoring systems and operational mechanisms available there and said that the effective use of modern technology compatible with the requirements of the present era is indispensable for enhancing the professional capabilities of the police, timely decision-making, effective operational monitoring, better utilization of resources and provision of quality, safe and timely security services to the public.
He said that developing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on modern lines, further enhancing the professional capabilities of the force, strengthening operational capabilities and ensuring the safety of lives and property of the public to the greatest extent possible are among the top priorities of the police. He reiterated the resolve that modern technology, effective strategies and all available resources are being used to achieve these goals so that the police force can be made more effective and efficient in dealing with the security challenges faced by it.
On this occasion, Commandant Special Security Unit Syed Ashfaq Anwar gave a comprehensive briefing to the IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the overall performance of the SSU, security of foreign experts and sensitive installations, special operational responsibilities, counter-terrorism preparations, professional training of personnel and the effectiveness of the modern command and control system. He said that the modern command and control room will not only ensure continuous monitoring of operational activities and effective coordination between different units but will also play a key role in monitoring the movement of foreign experts, monitoring the personnel assigned to their security, and ensuring prompt, coordinated, and effective response in any emergency.
The IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appreciated the professional performance, discipline, operational readiness and high standard of performance of duties of the Special Security Unit and paid tribute to the services of the officers and men.
He expressed confidence that the Special Security Unit will continue to perform its responsibilities in the future with modern professional skills, modern technology, passion for service and unwavering determination to protect the lives and property of the people, work effectively about the security of important national installations, foreign experts and development projects, and establish sustainable peace and order in the province.
