SHANGLA: At least 10 people were injured after a passenger van plunged into a deep ravine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district on Sunday, police and rescue officials said.
The accident occurred near the Top area when the van, which was travelling from Bazar Kot to Swat, reportedly lost control and veered off the road before falling into a gorge.
An immediate response team was constituted as soon as information reached them and the rescuers along with the locals retrieved the victims from the gorge and gave first aid at the spot.
As per the police officials, all the ten victims got admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Alpuri to receive treatment.
Some of the injured victims, according to the hospital management, were in serious condition and were under emergency treatment at the hospital.
The actual reason behind the accident is not known yet, but it is reported that the reason could be either over speeding or loss of control of the van during a turn.
