ISLAMABAD: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has strongly condemned remarks made by Noreen Niazi, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, regarding the Pakistan Army and Marka-e-Haq, describing them as shameful and reflective of her brother’s mindset.
In a statement, Bukhari said Noreen Niazi’s comments mirrored the thinking of the PTI founder and alleged that the family was troubled by every achievement of Pakistan.
She said the international community had acknowledged Pakistan’s success in Marka-e-Haq, adding that Noreen Niazi’s remarks, which she said appeared to favor Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s narrative, were condemnable.
Bukhari further criticized the PTI founder and his sisters, claiming that they had consistently acted against Pakistan’s national interests. She maintained that the armed forces had demonstrated exceptional professionalism during Marka-e-Haq and said the entire nation took pride in the military’s achievements.
The minister’s statement came after Noreen Niazi, in a recent interview, criticized the Pakistan Army’s role in Marka-e-Haq.
During the interview, she alleged that the operation was the result of an understanding between the Pakistan Army and the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She also claimed that India had refrained from attacking Pakistan at Israel’s behest because, according to her, Pakistan was preparing to recognize Israel.
The allegations have sparked political controversy, with the Punjab government dismissing the claims and condemning the remarks.
