KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have rescued all 20 Pakistani crew members after a cargo boat sank near Ormara, marking the second successful rescue operation within 24 hours.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the joint rescue operation was carried out after the cargo vessel “Alhamd Un Yaqub” sank in open waters near Ormara.

The vessel met with an accident approximately 32 nautical miles south of Ormara, following which the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre alerted authorities. A coordinated operation was launched involving PNS Hunain, a Pakistan Navy Sea King helicopter, and a PMSA Defender vessel.

ISPR said all crew members were safely evacuated and were being provided with initial medical assistance.

The timely response and coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Navy and PMSA demonstrated their readiness and professional capability in handling maritime emergencies, ISPR added.
