SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Former Chairman’s Alliance Wana President Ahmed Wazir has expressed serious concern over the alleged illegal cutting of valuable trees along the Wana Bypass Road in South Waziristan Lower and has demanded immediate intervention from the district administration and the forest department.

Ahmed Wazir said that valuable and shady trees along the Wana Bypass Road are being cut down at a rapid pace; however, the silence of the concerned administration and the forest department is a cause of concern. He said that if this illegal act was not stopped in time, the natural beauty, ecological balance, and forest resources of the area would be badly affected, the negative effects of which would also be felt by future generations.

He said that forests are an important part of the environment, climate, and natural beauty of any area, while deforestation can cause environmental pollution, climate change, and an increase in temperature.

Ahmed Wazir demanded that the district administration, forest department, and other concerned institutions take immediate notice of the alleged illegal felling of trees on Wana Bypass Road, take strict action against the responsible elements as per the law, and take effective and long-lasting steps for the protection of forests.

He further said that the protection of natural resources is the common responsibility of all people and any negligence or silence in this matter is unacceptable.

He also appealed to the citizens to play their role in protecting the environment and promoting tree plantation so that a safe, green, and healthy environment can be provided to the coming generations.
