Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reached Tehran to attend the funeral prayers of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will express heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families and reiterate Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the brotherly Iranian nation in this hour of grief.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has also arrived in Tehran and will attend the funeral prayer of Army Chief Shaheed Ayatollah Khamenei.
Iranian Interior Minister Sikandar Momeni welcomed Field Marshal Seyyed Asim Munir at Tehran Airport, while senior Iranian civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the reception, and senior officials from both countries met and expressed mutual goodwill.
