BANNU: Four militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Bannu after a vehicle carrying weapons and ammunition was destroyed during an exchange of fire with security forces, according to official sources.
It is said that security officials conducted the operation based on information about the movement of some armed men who were moving around with weapons and explosives in the Sardi Khel area.
According to sources, the men traveling in the vehicle opened fire on the security officials when they stopped the vehicle, leading to an exchange of fire between the two parties. As a result of the fire exchange, the vehicle caught fire and exploded, causing the death of all four suspected militants on board.
The authorities stated that the vehicle was found to contain arms and ammunition meant for criminal activity, although the actual operation was being investigated at the time.
No security force casualties have been reported.
The security forces have surrounded the area and started a search operation to eliminate any danger lurking in the area.
