ISLAMABAD: Senior Journalist Absar Alam reported, citing official sources, that the ban on the Joint Awaami Action Committee (JAAC) will remain in place, with authorities stating that no relaxation will be granted and previously registered cases will not be withdrawn under any circumstances.

He maintained that the government’s position remains firm despite any political guarantees and that earlier decisions to withdraw cases in similar situations had proven to be a serious mistake.

Journalist Absar Alam further said that no relaxation will be granted at this stage, even if assurances are provided by political leaders, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The government reiterated that decisions taken regarding the group are based on previous security-related incidents and that reversing earlier legal actions had been considered a mistake due to subsequent developments.

Authorities said cases registered against several individuals linked to the organization will not be withdrawn under any circumstances.

The statement referred to serious allegations of violence during past protests, including attacks on law enforcement personnel and damage to public and private property. Officials said that accountability measures will continue against all individuals allegedly involved in such incidents.

The government emphasized that no leniency will be shown in matters involving attacks on state institutions or acts of public violence, and that legal proceedings will follow due process.

Officials have not issued further details regarding the timeline of ongoing investigations or court proceedings.

AJK IG Rejects BBC Report on Road Closures

Earlier, Inspector General (IG) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police Liaquat Ali Malik has said that the news of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) regarding the closure of roads is completely contrary to the facts.

While holding a press conference in Muzaffarabad, he expressed regret that an international organization like the BBC published this news without verifying the ground realities.

The IG AJK said that at present all the roads in Azad Kashmir are open and there is no closure anywhere except a few roads in Rawalakot.

He clarified that we are currently going through an era of hybrid warfare, where new narratives are fabricated by distorting the reality, so the public should first verify any news instead of reacting immediately to it.

He revealed that miscreants are continuously spreading false propaganda about the overall situation in Azad Kashmir. The miscreants of the banned organization are involved in road blocking, who not only forcibly stop food-carrying vehicles but also loot them and torture the drivers.

IG Liaquat Ali Malik further said that due to these negative actions of the miscreants, ordinary citizens are facing severe difficulties.
