ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a major convenience for residents of Islamabad, enabling them to register births, deaths, marriages and divorces directly through the Pak ID mobile application.

According to a statement issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the service is now available across all union councils in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), allowing citizens to complete the registration process from their homes without visiting NADRA offices.

The development is aimed at simplifying access to essential civil registration services and reducing the need for in-person visits to government offices.

Earlier, NADRA urged citizens not to overlook the registration of key life events, including births, marriages, divorces and deaths. The authority noted that many people consider the required paperwork an unnecessary burden, despite the significant legal and administrative consequences of failing to register such events.

According to NADRA, unregistered life events can affect children’s future prospects, inheritance rights, access to identity documents and eligibility for various government services.

To raise public awareness, NADRA recently released an informational video explaining the importance of timely registration, the potential consequences of delays, and the role of relevant institutions in the process.

The authority stressed that what may appear to be a minor oversight can later develop into serious legal complications, underscoring the importance of maintaining accurate civil records.
