Apple has hinted that the company may raise the prices of its products after the price of memory chips increased due to the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI).

The company’s CEO Tim Cook said the increase in chip prices was now “unbearable” and the price increase was “inevitable”. However they did not specify when the new prices would go into effect or which products would be affected.

According to reports, there is no final information on whether the prices of the iPhone 18, which will be launched in September, will also increase.

Memory chips, which are a key part of smartphones and other devices, have become more expensive in recent months due to the booming demand for AI technology.

According to Tim Cook: “We tried our best to protect consumers, but the situation is no longer sustainable.”

In addition, the ongoing war in Iran has affected the supply of helium gas, which plays an important role in the manufacture of semiconductors, making chipmaking more expensive.

Experts say the global average price of smartphones is expected to rise by about 20% in 2026, while prices for new devices could be up to $150 higher than existing models.

Other major companies such as TSMC, Samsung, Sony and Nintendo have also announced price increases due to chip shortages and rising costs.
