HARIPUR: As many as twelve tourists including women and children, were safely rescued after a sudden flash flood struck a stream in the Sarai Saleh area of Haripur following heavy rainfall, rescue officials said.

According to rescue authorities, the group had visited the area for recreation when an unexpected rise in water levels in local streams and nallahs trapped them amid fast-flowing currents.

Rescue 1122 teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and carried out a swift rescue operation, safely evacuating all 12 individuals without any reported injuries.

Officials said that the flash flooding occurred after intense rainfall in the region, which caused water levels in nearby waterways to rise rapidly, creating hazardous conditions for visitors.

Rescue teams warned that tourists and local residents should exercise caution during periods of heavy rain, as hill torrents and seasonal streams can become dangerous within minutes.

All rescued individuals were provided initial assistance before being shifted to safer locations. Further monitoring of water levels in the area is underway.
