ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department(PMD) has issued an alert predicting severe weather changes in the upper and central regions of the country and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Due to the entry of moist winds from the Arabian Sea and a powerful Western Disturbance into the country, there is a possibility of severe winds, dust storms, and thundershowers.
Under this new weather system, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will remain in the grip of severe weather. According to the Meteorological Department, dust storms, strong winds, and thundershowers are expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, and Buner, as well as Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Hangu, and Kurram from June 11 to 13. During this time, there is a strong possibility of heavy rain and hail in many places of the province.
On the other hand, the weather will remain severe in all the small and big cities of Punjab, including the federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiat. From June 11 to 13, heavy rain with strong winds, thunderstorms, and hailstorms have been predicted in districts across the province, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Jhang, and Rahim Yar Khan.
In addition, all districts of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Skardu, and Hunza, are also likely to experience heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms during the same period.
Thunderstorms and rain are expected in the northeastern districts of Balochistan (Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, and Barkhan), while severe dust storms and thunderstorms are expected in the upper Sindh areas of Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu. The Meteorological Department has directed the relevant agencies to remain alert and the citizens to be cautious.
